What’s new?

Hello! Sorry it’s been a while. I’ve been so busy with so many things from work, fixing personal stuff and planning my life. I have a backlog of entries and some are outdated already boohoo but don’t worry, i’ll start updating again soon!

Updates!

1. I cut my permed hair early this year! Yes my digipermed hair  is gone! Why? Cause it’s been more than 6 months and I needed changes!  I get bored with my hair easily and life’s too short to just have 1 hairstyle! I wanted an asymmetrical cut where you can visibly see the other side is REALLY shorter than the other but of course, the stylist didn’t copy it, as always!

This is my shortest hair in years! It’s ok but i’m waiting for it to grow so I can do something to my hair again :)

2. Fitness. I got a wake up call this year about my health and i love it because now i’m so paranoid with anything related to health. I make sure I do regular monthly check-up and take my vitamins etc. My project this year is to not lose weight (Forever project) but boost my immune system as well so i’ve been doing a lot of movement. I’ve been attending yoga, pilates and barre3. My fave is barre3 because it’s a mix of pilates, yoga and ballet. The studio is also near my house and i love the instructor and people. Downside is that it’s not cheap. But yoga and other exercise aren’t cheap either so it’s all the same. I’ve come to accept that Manila is just not conducive to running. Too noisy, polluted, crowded and distracting. Also accepted that getting healthy is not cheap. You know fast food is way cheaper than healthy meals so you pay for cheap food but you get sick in the long term. It’s not cheap first but it’s more worth it in the long run. I’ll write more about barre3 next time. Also found a yoga studio and teachers that i like. Yoga is a hit and miss. Your love for it will depend on the studio, teacher and type of class. I like hatha and vinyasa yoga but still depends on who’s teaching. But i truly belive yoga should be a part of my life until i die. Also gonna  try to do circuit training and crossfit soon. I will do it all! So excited!

I really want to be strong! I admire women with strong core and body strength. It’s so sexy! No,  I don’t mean looking like a body builder but just fit and strong with some nice sexy muscles. I don’t think ill ever be so flexible or graceful like a dancer but i can be strong. Just look at Jessica Ennis and Jillian Michael’s body.

3. Learning. I enrolled in a photoshop  cs6 class. I wanted an organised learning system and i’m too lazy to view online tutorials. It was expensive and ok. Again, I really think you can learn it on your own and it would be nothing if you don’t practice. Like now,i’ve forgotten some of the stuff we learned lol. But this is a skill I really want to be good at cause it will lead to amazing possibilities! lol Remind myself to practice more.

Our classroom! It was nice and cold.

My messy area

We have unlimited snacks, coffe and tea inside. Lunch was great too but they just serve soda and not juice bleh.

Enrolled in a lot of online classes too. But my favorite is still reading. Everything you want to learn can be read. My photoshop instructor said that businesses like theirs wouldn’t exist if only people love to read. I agree. Photoshop is a special case since I really want a live teacher demo lol but i’ve bought lots of books on marketing, digital analytics etc. and learned a lot. Being in the digital advertising field is not easy. You constantly have to update your knowledge and skills to keep up or you will be ineffective. Also the same reason why i love it because i like new things.

4. Travel. Went to Hongkong last March. May in Cambodia and Indonesia a couple of months ago. Planning some more relaxing travel this holidays. Winter!

Wang Tai Sin Temple

Aside from the usual TST, Causeway bay and whole of kowloon and central, my friend and I went to Wang Tai Sin to meet my chinese relatives. We hada a nice lunch. Wang Tai Sin is a nice relaxing place. It’s an urban city with lots of trees and fresh air.It also has this nice temple we visited. Hope I can come back soon.

Will always love cold Mongkok’s hustle and bustle

Fell in love with these street corner noodle and dimsum places. I want to own one! I’m not kidding! i will!

This one above is my friend’s fave noodle place near our hotel in Causeway bay.

You know Cambodia means Temple and lots of it!

East Mebon Temple is a personal fave. Beautiful.

My friend Anna and I inside East Mebon Temple in Siem Reap. Cute kid photobombing.

Khmer BBQ! Crocodile in the middle. It’s yummy. Tastes like chicken.

But Beef Loklak w/ pepper sauce is my fave khmer dish!

I love Cambodia! The people are genuinely nice and everything is cheap! This is our cheap and nice hotel room!

Paid $23 for 3 days! Beat that! It’s cozy balinese type and 5 min walk to the pub street.

Pub street! Football on the street is <3

I went to Indonesia to watch Arsenal

I have so many beautiful travel photos! Will do a separate post because they are meant to be shared.

5. Career

Did a lot of freelancing this year and i love it! I really do! It pays more, you’re not required to go 9 to 6pm and you can do lots of stuff in between like go to the gym and watch movies. Only downside is that it’s not permanent and i really like working in an office. I’m not the type who prefers staying home all day but I see working from home as a future option specially once i become a mum hihi.

I’ve turned down a lot of new job offers for several reasons like location is just too far and not so nice (aka i cant imagine sitting there all day) and the job in general. When I was a fresh graduate, i wasn’t so picky with jobs but now that i’ve been working for some time, i kinda know already what i want to do and and where I can stay.

This year has been a revelation in terms of what i really want to do in my life and what i am good at. Thankful.

 6. Fresh , Safe and Organic

2013 is a turning point when it comes to health! Learned so much about it this year than my whole 25 years!

Food: No diet (low carb, paleo, low fat or whatever) is better. The best diet is Whole, fresh and mostly plant based.  Meaning try to eat so much fresh and whole foods and not processed, many times and bad quality. A stir fried vegetable is good but it’s not as good as fresh salad. You lose a lot of vitamins and antioxidants when you cook it.  Was also never fan of the fad vegetarian where people would try  so much to NOT eat meat that they would stuff themselves on carbs and dairy which is actually dangerous. I want to eat more plant based diet full of fresh vegetables, fruits and lean meat. Trying to lessen read meat since its highly acidic and im trying to clean my gut.

Did you know that most cancers and diseases can be avoided by eating healthy? and that most cancers are caused (not by genes or what) but what you eat? and 40% of people who eat less meat (Red meat more) are 40% likely not to get cancer ? it’s good because it means we can do something! you won’t just cry in the corner because you have the cancer gene (only 1 to 2% of people with the cancer gene actually get cancer) but you can not have it by eating healthy and fresh!

Products: I’ve decided to remove toxins and carcinogens on my environment. Almost all products we used have toxic chemicals but most of them are harmful than others (parabens, triclosan etc.). Isn’t weird that only when  a person gets a life threatening disease that he/she would change her habit like eating healthier and fresh and eradicating all harmful chemicals in his/her life? like how a cancer patient throws all her shampoo and beauty products after diagnosis and buys organic products? why only that time? why can’t we do it now when we’re still healthy?

So i did. After lots of reading and talking to specialists, i decided to remove harmful chemicals in the stuff i put in my body! So I changed all my shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, soap, deodorant, make up to a more natural and organic product. It wasn’t easy specially because i have tons of make up that i had to get rid of. But was also shocked with how many harmful products are in it even the expensive high-end brands! Ok the danger is not when you actually use it once. But imagine the products that you have to use daily like toiletries etc.? If you use them once then it’s fine. Nothing will happen to you but imagine using a product with harmful ingredient for 30 years! what would that do to you?

The next challenge is finding organic products. This one took so long but im so happy there are local educated and concerned people in this country that have the same advocacy as me. I found many brands and companies selling safe and organic products and they are amazing!  Also switched some of our cleaning materials like dishwashing liquid and tile cleaners to safer products. I even told my mom about this. I’ll be posting review of some of them soon!

I’m also cooking up something in relation to this that would benefit a lot. Basically, I want to educate people specially filipinos about the little things like this! that can actually improve and save their lives! Stay tuned!
